Lifeguard Training

REQUIREMENTS:

·       Must be at least 15 years of age

·       Must be a current or prospective employee of Winkler Pool Management

·       Must have blended learning portion completed prior to the first day of class, attend all both days of the course, and pass all exams to be eligible for certification

·       You are required to take the pre-course skills test:

1. Swim 300 yards continuously using either of the following strokes:

◦    Front crawl using rhythmic breathing

◦    Breaststroke using a pull, breathe, kick and glide sequence 

2. Tread Water for 2 minutes without stopping:

◦    Only the legs can be used

◦    Hands must be placed under the armpits or above the surface of the water

◦    Head must be above the surface of the water

3. Brick Retrieval

◦    Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using freestyle or breaststroke

◦    Surface dive 7 – 10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object and return to the surface

◦    Swim 20 yards back to your starting point with both hands on the object

◦    Exit the water without using steps or a ladder

◦    Complete the event within 1 minute and 40 seconds

The cost of the class is 200$ it can either be paid via cash, card, check, or payroll deduction.
